Newport Jazz Festival announces 2024 lineup that includes Samara Joy, Artemis, Robert Glasper, Chief Adjuah and many others

The storied Newport Jazz Festival, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, has announced much of the talent lineup for the festival to be held Aug. 2-4, 2024 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, R.I. The list of performers includes a mix of nearly every jazz or “jazz-adjacent” genre. High-profile headliners from the jazz world include Kamasi Washington, Samara Joy, Robert Glasper, Artemis, Chief Adjuah, the Sun Ra Arkestra, Bill Frisell, Anat Cohen and Johnathan Blake. The legacy of Wayne Shorter will be celebrated with a group featuring Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington and Ravi Coltrane. From the world of hip hop, R&B, funk and rock come artists such as Andre 2000, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Brittany Howard, Cimafunk, Elvis Costello. The legendary Irma Thomas will make a rare appearance as the special guest of fellow Crescent City musicians Galactic. Artistic director Christian McBride will once again lead his Jam Jawn that features surprise special guests. For the complete lineup, see graphic below.
