Photo Gallery: The BRIC JazzFest in Brooklyn

On October 20-22, the BRIC hosted a jazz festival featuring a bevy of emerging artists, alongside notable headliners performing at two venues there at the BRIC House in Brooklyn. Among the performers were Lizz Wright, Jose James, Joel Ross & Parables, Melvis Santa, Keyanna, Matthew Whitaker, Avram Fefer, Maurice Brown and several others.

WBGO photographers Jonathan Chimene and David Kaufman were there to capture images from several of the colorful performances. Enjoy a gallery of their photos above.

Long time music lover and WBGO listener, Jonathan proudly joined the WBGO team in Mid 2018.  He is a former collegiate and tournament tennis player – with international experience both as a player and a coach. Jonathan is a published photographer, who enjoys checking out jazz clubs and festivals throughout the world, and is a life-long, die-hard New York Mets fan. Raised in Central NJ but  after a long stint in Chicago, he has resided in Brooklyn for the past two decades.
Steven Sussman has been photographing jazz musicians in concert since 2002. Photography is his passion as his primary career is imaging of the human body in another capacity - as a radiologist. Photographing artists has become his central means to manifest his deep feelings for their music. His photographs appear regularly in DownBeat and he has had photographs in JazzTimes, Jazziz, The NY Jazz Record, Jazz Inside, the Hartford Courant, the NY times and Vogue magazine.
Dave Kaufman is a dedicated music enthusiast with a particular passion for jazz. Born in Montreal, he has lived in various cities including Berkeley, Upper Manhattan, and Scottsdale, and now calls Brooklyn home. For over 15 years, Dave has pursued music photography, with most of his work appearing on AllAboutJazz.com. There, he occasionally writes concert reviews and curates a series called "Jazz Raconteurs." His photos have been featured in other platforms like WBGO, DownBeat, and various magazines, books, posters, and tour booklets. In addition to his love for music, Dave works in academia at SUNY Downstate in the Health Informatics Program.
