Reverend Gary Davis was an African-American blues and gospel singer who taught many guitarists the fingerpicking style of playing. Some of his students went on to major careers in American roots music.

WBGO's Jon Kalish reports Stefan Grossman, one of those guitar students who is now based in Sparta, New Jersey, has made it his life’s work to pass on Reverend Davis' teachings .
