  • Pianist Sharp Radway will be in concert at the Englewood Public Library on Thursday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m. on the library’s front plaza. This will be the 10th and final installment in the library’s 10th annual jazz concert series “Jazz Under the Stars.” The concert series is free and open to the public. No registration is needed, but library parking is very limited. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church one block north at 113 Engle St.
    Sharp will be featuring much of his latest album: "Black Woman--A Conversation."
    Pianist/Composer/Arranger/Author Sharp Radway has appeared with many of the great names in Jazz, both past and present. Some of his main influences as a pianist are Bud Powell, Red Garland, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Ahmad Jamal, and Herbie Hancock.
    Radway has also appeared in film and theater. Sharp is also author of the book “Musicianship 101 (What They Don’t Tell You In School)”, published by Outskirts Press. His debut recording is “Hymns and Things (Introspection and Reflection)”.
    He has also worked with The Spirit of Life Ensemble, The New York Metropolitan Big Band, and currently serves as music director and pianist for The Celebration of Lionel Hampton Big Band.

    Mark credits his prolific sound to the rich appreciation for Gospel music he gew up with in Baltimore. After developing his interests in classical music at the Baltimore School for the Arts, Mark studied four years at Berklee College of Music and got his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance.
    Mark has performed on Broadway as well as in movies and TV. Among Mark's credits include "Five Guys Named Moe", "Malcolm X", "Boardwalk Empire" and "Annie."
    Among those Mark has toured with include Nat Adderley, Dave Holland, Mulgrew Miller, Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Freddie Hubbard, Regina Carter and Lionel Hampton.

This recording features Bobby Watson on Saxophones and four of Vincent's original compositions. Ector is featured performing on drum set, djembe and sangba African drums.   • On Saturday, July 10, 2021, I’m So Newark (ISN) will present Community FUN DAY Honoring the Vision of Reverend Ronald B. Christian. It is our goal to carry on the generosity and overwhelming support for others demonstrated by Rev Ron. Beginning at 10:00 am, members of the community are invited to participate in a daylong event featuring free food, pony rides, inflatables, sports competitions, music, entertainment, prizes, and give-a-ways. With over a year spent indoors practicing social distancing, this year’s annual Community FUNDAY will serve as the kickoff to a much-needed “sense of normalcy.” With adherence to current COVID guidelines, both young and old will gather for good times, shared experiences, and fellowship.
  • A series from The Newark Museum of Art & New Jersey Symphony Orchestra June 9 - September 24, 2021 This summer, The Newark Museum of Art partners with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to bring you a vibrant outdoor series of concerts, films, and cultural celebrations. All programs will take place in the Museum’s Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden with a limited capacity and safety guidelines to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience. Tickets will be available on the websites of the NMOA and NJSO, and must be purchased in advance. No exceptions. In compliance with Mayor Baraka and the City of Newark’s Executive Order on May 19, all visitors, aged 12 and up, to large cultural and recreation venues in Newark, including The Newark Museum of Art, must be fully vaccinated to gain entrance to the Museum. Note: Full vaccination means a minimum of two weeks after your second shot for Moderna and Pfizer and after the one shot for Johnson & Johnson. As part of planning your visit, please be prepared to show proof of vaccination with copy of vaccination card or photo, along with personal identification. For children 12-16, identification is not required. This ordinance includes both the Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Garden and inside the Museum. This applies to all visitors, including Members of the Museum.
