On this episode of The Art of the Story, we focus on the new film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere that opens in theaters today (October 24) from 20th Century Studios.
Other states tried to woo the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere away, but in a case of life imitating art imitating life, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bruce Springsteen would have none of that. And so director Scott Cooper and the producers got tax incentives from the New Jersey film office to make a movie about a hometown hero in his home state.
Super talented actor Jeremy Allen White, the star of Hulu’s series The Bear and the one of the stars of the hit 10-year Showtime series Shameless, plays Springsteen in the new film…and does the singing as well.
You can hear WBGO’s Film Critic Harlan Jacobson review of Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere on tomorrow morning's WBGO Journal (October 25 at 5:30am on 88.3 FM and worldwide at wbgo.org).
In this episode of The Art of Story, we hear from Harlan and WBGO’s Blue reporter Dave Popkin who has seen "The Boss "perform live more than 125 times including a recent performance in Italy.
