New Jersey Congresswoman LaMonica McIver is continuing to deny any wrongdoing outside a detention center in Newark on May 9. A federal complaint says Congresswoman McIver attempted to stop the arrest of Mayor Ras Baraka and pushed into agents for Homeland Security.

"if I'm going to be charged with a crime for doing my job, it just speaks where we are headed in this country and what we're doing as leaders in this country."

Congresswoman McIver says prosecutors are distorting her actions in an effort to deter legislative oversight. Mayor Baraka, who has his trespassing charges dropped this week, has expressed his support for his former student, Congresswoman McIver.

"I think the Congresswoman will be vindicated. The videos are clear. Everybody can see those videos. They'll see the whole thing and it will be clear to me and it will be clear to her in court."

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump told reporters he didn’t know who the Congresswoman was.

"She was shoving federal agents. She was out of control. The days of that crap are over in this country. We're going to have law and order."

No word on when any court appearances are scheduled.
