WBGO host Lezlie Harrison—a founder and board member of The Jazz Gallery—sits down with two visionaries: Yosvany Terry, acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and educator, and Rio Sakairi, Artistic Director of The Jazz Gallery - where the future is present.
Together, they reflect on the Gallery’s 30th anniversary, and the return of one of its most beloved thematic series: Jazz Cubano.
This month, The Jazz Gallery presents An Homage to Jazz Cubano, featuring the Caracas Trio with Yosvany Terry and trumpeter Michael Rodriguez. The original Jazz Cubano series began in 2000 as a labor of love by co-founder Dale Fitzgerald, who saw a direct line connecting West Africa, Cuba, and New York City—a transatlantic musical conversation.
