On November 23, The Town Hall in New York City came alive with the 30 year celebration of The Maria Schneider Orchestra.
Aside from a magnificent and colorful musical palette, Maria’s compositions also contain strong messages. Let’s hope both are heard, from the first, “Evanessance”, a tribute to her mentor Gil Evans; the influence of Brazil in her composing; the conflict between the technical and natural worlds on her Pulitzer Prize nominated “Data Lords” album, the spirit is more than apparent on the faces of musicians and audience who reveled in Maria’s absolute creative force!
