Imagine Joe's requirements when heading in a new direction, with a new band. Alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, Julius Rodriguez on piano and Fender Rhodes and bassist Robert Hurst join the leader for originals, along with engaging inventions on works by Mabern and Donny Hathaway.
