Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, drummer Makaya McCraven and vocalist-producer Georgia Anne Muldrow are among the artists performing this fall on the fifth annual edition of BRIC Jazzfest, according to an announcement made this afternoon.

The festival, running Oct. 19-26 at BRIC House in downtown Brooklyn, combines standalone concerts with a three-night, multi-stage marathon.

That format allows for an adventurous programming model — with roughly equal concentrations of style-blending drummer-producers (McCraven, Louis Cole, Antonio Sánchez, Kassa Overall); assertive post-bop saxophonists (Coltrane, Tia Fuller, Roxy Coss); and up-and-coming vibraphonists (Joel Ross, Sasha Berliner). Also among the artists just announced are the funk-fusionesque band Kneebody, Chilean vocalist Claudia Acuña, experimental saxophonist María Grand, and multi-instrumentalist Salami Rose Joe Louis.

Jack Walsh, BRIC’s Senior Vice President of Performing Arts, confirmed in a press statement that more acts would be added to the schedule soon. He added: “In five short years, we’ve been able to create a new, forward-looking jazz festival that has become an eagerly-awaited facet of the music scene here in Brooklyn.”

Early three-day passes for the BRIC Jazzfest Marathon are available now to BRIC members, and will go on sale to the general public on Friday, at bricartsmedia.org.
