Lower East Side restaurateur & cymbalom virtuoso Joseph Moskowitz

Hammered dulcimers are stringed instruments that are played with mallets. They’ve been around for more than 2,000 years and are heard in the traditional music of Asia, Europe. Also known as a cymbalom, they gained popularity in the U.S. during the folk music revival of the 1960’s.

WBGO’s Jon Kalish reports on Lower East Side virtuoso Joseph Moskowitz who also ran a series of popular restaurants.
