Oscar Cohen’s long career: From educating the deaf to fighting for adequate public school funding

The town of Ramapo, New York lies just across the New Jersey border. For the last 20 years a bitter conflict over educational spending has played out between the area’s ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities and residents who send their children to public schools. One of the activists opposing public school funds going to religious schools is a man named Oscar Cohen.
