Klezmer is the instrumental music of Eastern European Jews.
Sometimes referred to as Yiddish Dixieland, the klezmer repertoire has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years, as the result of an archive in a Ukraine library. More than a thousand klezmer tunes from the Kiselgof Makonovetsky collection are now being taught, recorded and performed.
