Poet Rashad Wright at Prototype 237

Last week we told you about the life of jazz singer Dwight West of Maplewood who passed away earlier this year. This week we have a story about his son Rashad Wright who lives in Paterson. The 28 year-old African-American poet lives in a unique artist compound in an old industrial building on the Passaic River. He's has been teaching New Jersey school children what poetry can be.

WBGO’s Jon Kalish continues his three-part special series.

Next week we’ll visit Prototype 237, the live/work space for artists in in Paterson that Rashad Wright calls home.

NOTE: This report is a part of WBGO's 2023 special series with features on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The reports are made possible in part by a grant from The Fund for New Jersey.
