As a teenager, Cyntoia Brown-Long was convicted of first-degree murder and would have to serve 51 years in prison in order to be eligible for parole. On January 7, 2019, she was granted clemency. Brown-Long was released from prison about seven months later. In October of last year, she hosted a book signing at 3rd Space Co-Work in Newark.
Kenneth Miles, Founding Partner and Community Manager, describes 3rd Space as the place between home and work. Although 3rd Space is new to Newark, the co-working space has already hosted several opportunities to engage the Newark community.
M.J. Rodriguez, native of Newark, was welcomed by current Arts High School students at the space. Writer-In-Residence, Aliya S. King, and Entrepreneur-In-Residence, Alford Edmond, both add unique elements to 3rd space.
Miles has written for many publications and believes in the camaraderie that co-working spaces can create. He understands the importance of including the community and the importance of a really cool workspace.
