Brooklyn Youth Music Project (BYMP) is holding its holiday fundraiser with an intimate performance by renowned, Grammy Award-winning jazz saxophonist and composer Joe Lovano. Lovano will be joined by Aidan O’Donnell on bass and Owen Howard on drums.

These instruments blend together to create a time of innovative worship that will be enjoyed by all generations. The King's Brass, formed four decades ago in Detroit, is comprised of professional musicians from across the country, who desire to use the instruments they love to lead others in praise and worship. He is the author of the definitive biography of Billy Strayhorn, "Lush Life" which has won many awards included being named by The New York Times as one of the "Hundred Best Nonfiction Books of All Time." Produced by Metuchen Arts Council/Jazz in partnership with New Jersey Jazz Society as one in a series of six Jazz Education presentations in 2021. Gabriel Chakarji is a Latin Grammy Award nominee pianist and composer who merges the influences of his Venezuelan musical backgrounds with a New York City Jazz sound. Originally from Caracas Venezuela, he grew up in a multicultural environment full of music that expands from afro-Venezuelan Folk, Caribbean, Brazilian music to Jazz and Gospel. The influences of cultures, rhythms and harmonies became Gabriel’s own personality. His compositions and playing are rooted in social justice and multiculturalism.
