    Acclaimed jazz pianist Edsel Gómez brings his formidable trio to Zinc on Saturday, November 5. He’s supported by Lonnie Plaxico on bass and Ronnie Burrage on drums.

    Grammy nominee Edsel Gómez is today one of the premier Latin pianists in the world. His highly personal approach to fusing jazz, Latin, and Brazilian music gives him a unique personality and musical voice. His record Cubist Music pioneered an original improvisational concept based on Cubist Art. He arranged and directed Dee Dee Bridgewater’s Grammy-winning Eleanora Fagan: To Billie with Love. He has worked with many more luminaries, including Don Byron, Celia Cruz, Gary Burton, Olga Guillot, Jack DeJohnette, and Caetano Veloso!

  • POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, June 21, 2022 – Jazz in the Valley (JITV) returns with a celebration of the Legacy, History and the Future of Jazz. Presented by TRANSART & Cultural Services, Inc., and led by Guest Curator Craig Harris, the day-long festival celebrates the centennial of bassist/composer/bandleader Charles Mingus (1922-1979) with Harris, Buster Williams, Regina Carter, Camille Thurman, Carla Cook, Michael King and Joaquin Pozo, who, in the spirit of Mingus, are taking the music forward.
  • Lee Ritenour is an American jazz guitarist who has been active since the late 1960s. For Lee Ritenour, there aren’t many ‘firsts’ left to achieve. During his dazzling five-decade career, the fabled LA guitarist has taken his music to the outer limits, alighting on every genre and occupying every position in the rock ‘n’ roll firmament. He’s been an enfant terrible of ’70s fusion, a crossover star of the ’80s pop chart, an honorary exponent of Brazilian jazz, and the fingers behind ’90s supergroup, Fourplay. Ritenour’s accolades include: 45 albums, Grammy award winner, plus 16 Grammy nominations, Alumnus of the year at USC, Los Angeles’ Jazz Society Honoree (2019), plus thousands of sessions with legends such as Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, B.B.     Acclaimed jazz guitarist Rodney Jones brings his formidable quartet to Zinc jazz club on Monday, July 18. He's supported by pianist Dabin Ryu, bassist Lonnie Plaxico, and drummer EJ Strickland.

    Rodney started playing the guitar at age 6. He has recorded two records for the Blue Note label, “The Undiscovered Few” and “Soul Manifesto”. He has toured worldwide, performed, and recorded with a who’s who of music including Dizzy Gillespie, James Brown, Lena Horne, Quincy Jones, Christian McBride, Stevie Wonder, Elvin Jones, Kenny Burrell, Stan Getz, and countless others. He was the house guitarist for the Apollo Theatre for 9 years, and the staff guitarist for the Rosie O’Donnell Show for 6 years. He has written commercials and has more than 125 compositions recorded. He recently scored a documentary film for PBS about African American GIs in WW2. He served as Musical Director/Producer for Lena Horne, Ruth Brown, Gloria Lynne, Ernestine Anderson, and others. He has been a professor of Jazz Guitar Studies at The Juilliard School for 12 years and at The Manhattan School of Music for more than 20 years and has conducted clinics and workshops worldwide.
