A vibrant and eclectic tribute to the men and women who inspire us, with music by Schubert, Gluck, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and others. Featuring mezzo-soprano Kara Dugan, baritone John Brancy, violinist and vocalist Charles Yang, pianists Peter Dugan and Steven Blier.

Charles Altura is a Grammy-nominated artist, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in Anthropology, he quickly made a name for himself as an exciting new voice on guitar. Charles is especially known for his work as a member of the bands of Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Terence Blanchard (including the Oscar-nominated soundtrack for “The BlacKkKlansman”), Ambrose Akinmusire, and Tom Harrell. He has also toured and/or recorded with Tigran Hamasyan, Christian McBride, Ravi Coltrane, Jeff Ballard, Aaron Parks, Dayna Stephens, and Thundercat, in addition to many others. Throughout his career, he has established himself as one of the most sought-after recording artists of the international jazz world. Altura is known for his effortless fluidity on his instrument, while never at the expense of melodicism and musicality.

Ohno’s performances and recordings with Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter, and Herbie Hancock have influenced his current works. Harlem and New York iconic saxophone players Bill Saxton, Alvin Flythe Todd Herbert and John S. Mannan
team up with two rhythm sections to play the music of John Coltrane from the Prestige Record thru the impulse Record years of Trane's performances.
Vocalist Lori Hartman (the daughter of Johnny Hartman) will perform music from the Coltrane /Johnny Hartman album
Paul Austerlitz, bass clarinetist extraordinaire, Tarik Shah bassist Denton Darrien, Sharpe Radway pianists
are among many fine musicians in performance.

International Contemporary Ensemble Presents "Peyvand" with Iranian Female Composers Association October 15
International Contemporary Ensemble’s 20th anniversary season continues with Peyvand (پیوند), a concert of curated works by members of the Iranian Female Composers Association (IFCA) on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 7:30pm at NYU Skirball Center. Peyvand (پیوند), the Persian word for connectivity, features works related to this theme, including the world premiere of C Ce See by Niloufar Nourbakhsh.
