Sālongo is a seven-piece Afro-Cuban/Brazilian group that combines Mongo Santamaria's rhythmic lattice work, with Brazilian beats, the harmonic concepts of contemporary jazz, and the commercial veneer of Santana.

We’ll be performing selections from our debut self-titled CD, as well as a few new selections.

For the past 26 years, this program has lifted the confidence, oratory skills and passion of Essex County young men in 7th and 8th grade. The participants give a speech on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "Perspectives on the World Today".



All participants are given an allotted amount of time to present their speech at a preliminary contest. The top seven (7) participants participate in a luncheon during MLK weekend where they present their speeches before an audience and judges. The participants are judged on 10 criteria, including oratorical skills, content, time management, presentation, along with other criteria.

Through community contributions, ticket sales and sponsorships, the Foundation provides monetary awards to the winners.

The Roosevelt Library will present a Women's History Month screening of Jean Stapleton's Emmy and Golden Globe award nominated performance in ELEANOR, FIRST LADY OF THE WORLD (1982) at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024. The event will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center. This is a free public event, but registration is required.

Join our annual Ailey Day celebration! This full day of dance immersion at NJPAC features a variety of movement classes taught by professional artists including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater alumni, faculty and students. This memorable NJPAC tradition welcomes dancers of all skill levels and people of all abilities — take your first steps into dance performance or show off your advanced moves.

In addition to your choice of dance classes, you’re invited to a warm-up session and panel discussion with our visiting instructors. Also, our partners will host a variety of arts and wellness activities. At the end of the day we’ll raise the curtain on all of our participants with a special Show & Share. Plus, prepare to be delighted with performances by local dance companies!

The Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band performs live shows taking you back in time to the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. This project is comprised of extremely talented and seasoned musicians. Mike Armando was the original guitarist for Screamin' Jay Hawkins back in the 1970's. Another reason this project is exciting. The band is not just performing the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins but creating a time machine of one of rock’s true wild men. A show you will surely remember for many years.
