Grammy-winning Brazilian jazz vocalist Luciana Souza joined the Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors for a special concert on March 6, in Boston's Red Room at Cafe 939.
Drawing from Souza's latest recording, The Book of Longing, this unique collaboration featured an array of talented Berklee musicians hailing from six different countries. (The artistic director of the Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors is Danilo Pérez, the Panamanian pianist, who featured Souza on his 2000 album Motherland.)
Along with Souza, the ensemble will consist of Stefano Battaglia (Italy) on acoustic bass, Jireh Calo (Philippines) on background vocals, Aga Derlak (Poland) on piano, Connor Kent (USA) on drums, Jacob Means (USA) on electric mandolin, Luke Norris (USA) on saxophones, Anastassiya Petrova (Kazakhstan) on keyboards, and Tareq Rantisi (Palestine) on percussion.
