Five-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist Keb’ Mo’ is one of music’s great story tellers. On his new album The Breakout released via Concord Records on August 21, 2026, the LA native tells his own story.
This 10-song collection was recorded at his home studio outside Nashville and written in the wake of life-saving open heart surgery in 2024, something he sings about on this intimate album.
Keb’ Mo’s latest recording also comes out following a period of profound personal upheaval and the end of his nearly 20-year marriage. Despite his troubles, the Americana Music Lifetime achievement winner talks about hope and moving forward on his favorite tune on the album "Every Step of the Way".
The first single released from “The Breakdown” is titled "Fussing and Fighting" and the tune could just as easily reflect a long-term relationship as a divided nation searching for common ground.
While eight of the songs are stripped down to just Keb' Mo's voice and guitar, he’s also carefully selected vocal contributions from the Soweto Gospel Choir and the gospel sextet Take 6.
