The building that partially collapsed in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx this week did have some safety concerns.

Buildings Commissioner Jimmy Oddo says the owner of the building submitted their most recent report in 2021.

"That report did find unsafe façade conditions, seven of them, mortar that was deteriorating, cracked bricks."

He says inspectors will be looking into an active work permit that focused on the part of the building that collapsed. Work was most recently done on that a few days ago. The seven story building was built in 1927 and had scaffolding attached.
