One of guitarist Dave Stryker's first significant gigs was a stint with the legendary organist "Brother" Jack McDuff. Dave would test his mettle in many settings, with saxophonists Stanley Turrentine, Steve Slagle and Bob Mintzer, reimagine classic film tunes , show off his soulful sound in a larger setting with his Blue To The Bone recordings, and play and record with organists Joey DeFrancesco and Larry Goldings and alongside vocalist Kevin Mahogany.

For his new recording Blue Fire - The Van Gelder Session that comes out January 9, Dave, organist Jared Gold and drummer McClenty Hunter encounter for the first time the historical Van Gelder Studio, to set in motion a collection of blistering originals, alongside visits to Lennon/McCartney, Charlie Parker, Jerome Kern and Harry Warren.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
