Pianist Ted Rosenthal has sparkled in the groups of Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Phil Woods and James Moody. With 15 critically acclaimed recordings of his own, Ted has shared with us his Rhapsody in Gershwin, amazed with his recreation of Bud Powell, Bill Evans and Beethoven. His jazz opera, "Dear Erich" was based on moving letters from his grandmother to his father during Nazi Germany. The New Yorker says of Rosenthal, "A musician's musician who balances technique and taste."
WBGO's Daybreak host Gary Walker spoke with Ted Rosenthal about his new release High Standards.
With High Standards, we get a taste of great standards, Broadway and more, including "Jet Song", "Old Devil Moon", "It Could Happen To You", "Lover Man" and more, all reimagined the marvelous Rosenthal way.
Hear a track from Ted Rosenthal's High Standards each weekday morning @ 8:20AM, another service provided by the members of WBGO.
