Alan Broadbent: Threads of Time

The musical experiences for pianist, composer, arranger, and two-time Grammy winner Alan Broadbent come to life with Threads Of Time, his new release on Savant Records. Expanding his trio setting of recent releases, here Alan has put together a powerhouse sextet of himself alongside Sam Dillon's tenor sax, Scott Wendholt's trumpet, trombonist Eric Miller, long-time bassist Harvie S and drummer Lucas Ebeling. Using masters like Duke Ellington and Dave Brubeck as inspiration, Alan's program portrays a feeling for a walk along the beach in Santa Monica, salutes to Clifford Brown, Sonny Clark and Bud Powell, and some sense memory from his notable time with Charlie Haden's Quartet West.

Hear a track from Alan's wonderful musical reflections each weekday morning at 8:20AM.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
