Words Fall Short by Joshua Redman

With Words Fall Short saxophonist Joshua Redman takes an organic next step with a collection of originals, and featuring his new working group, with pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Philip Norris, and drummer Nazir Ebo. There's also a collaboration with Blue Note labelmate, saxophonist Melissa Aldana, and a feature with vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa, who appeared on Joshua's last release, Where Are We. As Redman says, "My approach to bandleading is unchanged. Play with musicians who have mastered different jazz vocabularies, and know how to express their individual brilliance through group improvisation and collective interaction."

Hear a track each weekday morning at 8:20 AM from Joshua Redman's engaging new effort.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning on Daybreak. He's the winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year Award and the recipient of the 2021 Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Career Achievement in Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. Gary hosts the morning show each weekday from 8am til noon. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
