When Brian Melvin was eight he saw the Buddy Rich Big Band. He never forgot it, setting a course for a life in rhythm. He would play with Archie Shepp, guitarist Mike Stern, and be part of the last recording of legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius.
Of late, Brian's focus has been Beatlejazz, a trio with pianist David Kikoski and bassist Boris Kozlov. After three previous recordings, with special guests including John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Randy Brecker and Richard Bona, Reunion has the threesome returning to the trio format, in a program of inventive expressions of works by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
