Recently students from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University came into the WBGO Studios for a taping of a special performance as Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) continues. The students were accompanied by noted pianist Oscar Perez, who serves as Coordinator and Professor of the Jazz Studies Program at the school.
The student quintet consisted of Eric DuPont on drums, Dominic Carnival on bass, Diego Mamani on guitar , Ryan Huston on saxophone and Daniel Harkinson on trombone.
They performed music by McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, Dave Stryker and others. The ensemble received a professionally mixed recording, a video of one of the songs performed, and photos of their session at WBGO.
