Today the 92nd Street Y (92NY) announced the schedule of performances for its annual Jazz in July concert series. Now in its 39th year, Jazz in July is curated by the pianist Aaron Diehl, who is in his first year as artistic director, succeeding Bill Charlap. The prestigious series was founded in 1985 by the pianist Dick Hyman. The 2024 edition of the series consists of six concerts, often with a theme, held July 17-27 at either the Kaufmann Concert Hall or the recently renovated Buttenwieser Hall at the Arnhold Center.

Among the headliners appearing in the series are Kenny Barron, Benny Green, Helen Sung, Marilyn Maye, Catherine Russell, Etienne Charles, Tyshawn Sorey, Warren Wolf and several others. The complete schedule is below.

“I'm deeply honored to be the next Artistic Director of Jazz in July at 92NY, and to build off of the extraordinary blueprint that both Dick Hyman and Bill Charlap have developed over the decades,” said Diehl in a press release received at WBGO. “Working off of these foundational visions, I intend to continue to expand the collaborative possibilities of this series, with an intimate, reflective, and nuanced experience around each concert. To me, Jazz in July is all about creating a communal space where musicians and concertgoers can come together to experiment with artistic honesty and vulnerability, drawing open-minded, open-hearted audiences into their worlds and taking them on a journey.”
