WBGO holds engaging panel discussion in advance of the PBS doc 'GOSPEL' with Henry Louis Gates Jr.

PBS and WETA are presenting a four-hour documentary GOSPEL hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr. The special doc series premieres on February 12-13 an

d digs deep into the origin story of Black spirituality through sermon and song.

In advance of the series, WBGO will hold a panel discussion that will stream live on www.wbgo.org on Thursday, February 8 at 7pm. The panel discussion will be moderated by singer and host of WBGO's "Come Sunday" Lezlie Harrison.

The panelists are:

Shayla Harris is an independent director, who produced and directed GOSPEL, Making Black America and The Black Church with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. for PBS.

Dr. William Howard is an American cleric, former college president, community and business leader. He was pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, NJ from 2000-2015.

Reverend Lori Hartman is the Pastor of Brooklyn’s Janes Methodist Church. She is the daughter of Johnny Hartman.

Charlotte Small is a vocalist who teaches Gospel Chorus and Gospel Ensemble at the New School. She’s the wife of Cyrus Chestnut.

The actual GOSPEL show premieres Monday, 2/12 and Tuesday 2/13 at 9pm on PBS.
