Today the Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival announced the talent lineup for its 46th edition on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, 2023. The esteemed festival is held at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Among the jazz-focused headliners for the festival produced by longtime concert and festival impresario Danny Melnick are Pat Metheny’s Side-Eye project, Snarky Puppy, Hiromi and The Piano Quintet featuring PUBLIQuartet, Samara Joy, Cory Wong, Chucho Valdes Quartet, Cindy Blackman Santana, Emmet Cohen, Melissa Aldana, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Nduduzo Makhathini, and Claudia Acuna. In addition, the Skidmore Jazz Institute Faculty All-Stars featuring Clay Jenkins, Jimmy Greene, Michael Dease, Dave Stryker, Bill Cunliffe, Todd Coolman and Dennis Mackrel will present a Centennial Celebration of Wes Montgomery, Tito Puente & Dexter Gordon.

Like most major jazz festivals, the festival in Saratoga includes a smattering of “jazz-adjacent” acts. Among the performers of that ilk are Bonnie Raitt, Angelique Kidjo, Tower of Power and St. Paul & the Broken Bones. Performances are held on two stages: The Amphitheatre and The Charles R. Wood “Jazz Discovery” stage. “The 2023 jazz festival features ‘A-list' artists from start to finish, on both stages, all weekend,” said Melnick in a press release received by WBGO. “All of the amphitheater groups will perform longer sets and we’ve built in more time in between sets to allow the audience to go from stage to stage more easily. I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re planning.”
