Birnbaum won the prestigious award in 2004, and Fortner in 2015. Each has since become a leading voice in the music, on their own and in collaboration with others. For this exclusive concert — emceed by Nicole Sweeney, host of Evening Jazz on WBGO — they will perform in solo and duo formats, making the most of a common language.
