TANISHA FORDHAM’S SNATCH YO’ FREE (NEW MUSICAL) | THEATER IN THE PARK EVENT

This new, undeniably joyful, and revolutionary musical for this generation confronts audiences to “Snatch yo’ free.”

The saga of one girl's journey to SNATCH HER FREE, SNATCH YO’ FREE “TANISHA FORDHAM THE EGOT” is told through a series of memoirs, songs, poems, random thoughts and monologues all written in rhyme.
THIS IS A HIP HOP MUSICAL FOR THE AGES: conveyed through free movement, spoken word artistry, music performance, group dance, rap, call-and-response/ interactive theater, hip-hop, synchronized movement, live visual art, and play (yes actual games) “THE EGOT” calls to audiences inviting them to experience and be apart of a journey that won’t be soon forgotten.

Inspired by the ideas of freedom, destiny, community and joy Fordham curated a written amalgamation of herstory. Identity, faith, hope, love, race, the pervasive and unavoidable nature of obstacles, overcoming hopelessness, overcoming self-doubt, and community are some of the themes explored throughout the piece.

Ultimately “TaNisha Fordham The EGOT,” asks one dynamic question: you will never be good enough for everyone else; are you good enough for yourself? Would an Emmy award give you more worth? An Oscar? Would a Grammy award, or a Tony? Who and what gives you value?

Don’t wait for someone to give it to you. Go on and SNATCH YO’ FREE.

The memoir in rhyme (novel) by the same name “TaNisha Fordham The EGOT,” will be released in June 2022. Purchase your copy of the book for a sneak peak at this riveting story opening as Newark’s 2ND ANNUAL Theater in the Park Summer 2022 event.
