Pucci Amanda Jhones Quartet

Pucci Amanda Jhones Quartet

Graduated from the New School University with a Bachelor of Fines Arts degree in Jazz and Contemporary music in 1998. I've traveled extensively, performing with Daniel Kramer on a 20-concert Russian tour. Randy Cannon quartet at the Living Room in Bangkok. Performed with Freddy Cole, Freddy Hubbard, French Jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson, Robert Glasper, Joe Chambers, Dizzy, and Stanley Turrentine on the CD101.9 Jazz Cruises.
My debut recording on Cadence label, entitled Sweet Dreams, featured pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Hillard Green, drummer Dwight Cook Broadnax, trumpeter Kenyatta Beasley, Casey Benjamin, and alto.
Wild is the Wind and "Love Jhones" are also on Cadence featuring Joseph Tranchina, pianist Eric Lemmon, bass Bobby Sanabria, drums, and Ralph Williams, tenor.

Last night, it was a swingin' evening performing at Birdland with vocalist Pucci Amanda Jhones. Pucci is an unsung hero who deserves wider recognition. She's an accomplished jazz swinger/singer who takes no prisoners. Pucci is a great leader who will instantly change things on stage it keeps the musicians on a whim which is fantastic to be on their toes and makes things even more fun. And she doesn't freak when the rhythm section throws her a few curves. She encourages it, deals, and smiles with that sly look that says, "Yeaaah, MFs." And it was great to perform with two great young players; pianist Matt Baker from Australia and Tommy Morimoto on tenor from the Left Coast. Eric Lemon is always a great anchor and a fantastic soloist on bass. Pucci outdoes herself, whether it's an up-tempo burner or an intimate ballad which she takes to another level emotionally as she did on an original piece she composed for her Mom.
