WBGO presents Military Voices Initiative with StoryCorps

The Military Voices Initiative provides a platform for veterans, service members, and military families to share their stories. In doing so we honor their voices, amplify their experiences, and let them know that we—as a nation—are listening.

WBGO and StoryCorps warmly invite local Veterans , Military, and Military Families to participate in an upcoming audio recording event for Veterans, Military, and Military Families in Newark, NJ.

The Military Voices Initiative (MVI) Lunch & Learn on June 25th from 12-2pm at WBGO (54 Park Place, Newark).
StoryCorps leaders present information and answer questions over a free luncheon.

MVI will host in-person recording days at WBGO’s Newark Headquarters (54 Park Place, Newark) July 30 – August 3, 2025.

StoryCorps is a non-profit organization that aims to record, preserve, and share the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. Its mission is "to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all—one story at a time." WBGO Newark Public Radio is the “global leader in jazz, broadcasting from the jazz capital of the world!”

The Military Voices Initiative (MVI) records and honors the stories of veterans, service members, and military families – ensuring their voices are heard and preserved for generations. Recording a conversation with a loved one or sharing personal reflections can be a powerful and memorable experience. Participants receive a copy of their conversation and have the option to archive it in StoryCorps’ Online Archive and the Library of Congress.
