Powerhouse Grammy-winning vocalist Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton will close out Saturday's Montclair Jazz Festival's Downtown Jamboree Finale.
Fischer has been touring the world’s finest concert halls and festivals, thrilling live audiences with her incredible voice.
After four decades of singing background for icons like The Rolling Stones, Luther Vandross, Sting, Tina Turner and Nine Inch Nails, Ms. Fischer set out to take center stage with her celebrated vocal prowess.
Lisa spoke with WBGO's Doug Doyle about her upcoming performance and her amazing career.
Fischer says she loves what the co-founders of the Montclair Jazz Festival, singer Melissa Walker and her husband and bassist Christian McBride, are all about.
"I love Melissa and her Jazz House Kids organization that she's the President of and Christian is the Artistic Director of, they're just so loving and caring. I think what they're doing for the kids with the music, instruments and vocals, just everything they are doing for the community is just powerful. It gives kids a chance to just grow."
Fischer is looking forward to Saturday's performance.
"So, Grand Baton, I've been working with them for more than ten years now. J.C. Maillard, an amazing singer-songwriter, producer and arranger is the musical director. He arranged and reimagined songs that I knew that were part of my DNA and so you'll hear a lot of that. So, the band gets together and we just have the best time."
