Time now for a story about an African-American child from New Brunswick who grew up poor but thrived, thanks to her elementary school principal. The little girl went on to earn degrees at two Ivy League universities and made a career for herself in the tech industry.

WBGO’s Jon Kalish introduces us to Jill Ford and her former principal Maurice Williams.

NOTE: Jon Kalish's report is part of WBGO's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion feature series made possible in part by a grant from The Fund for New Jersey.
