WBGO's Michael Bourne has experienced thousands of musical events throughout his amazing career as an announcer for the greatest jazz station in the world.

But before he came to WBGO, he was a young reporter who got a chance to cover Woodstock more than 50 years ago. He was supposed to interview Joe Cocker at the event. It never happened.

His journey was unforgettable. The master storyteller relives his trip in this special feature.

Michael, who has provided Broadway, theater and event reviews for more than 20 years on the WBGO Journal, will be retiring in early January. The WBGO Journal is celebrating his amazing work all month long.

Doug Doyle has been News Director at WBGO since 1998 and has taken his department to new heights in coverage and recognition. Doug and his staff have received more than 250 awards from organizations like PRNDI (now PMJA), AP, New York Association of Black Journalists, Garden State Association of Black Journalists and the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists.
