WBGO News

Screenings of the new Miles Davis documentary Birth of The Cool begin today in NYC.

The film offers never-before-seen archived footage and photos provided by the Miles Davis Estate along with video interviews from friends family and contemporaries of the legendary trumpeter, including Quincy Jones and Carlos Santana as well as the sole remaining member of the Kind of Blue sextet, drummer Jimmy Cobb.

WBGO's Alexandra Hill sat down with Davis’s son Erin Davis and nephew Vince Wilburn Jr. along with the film's director, Stanley Nelson.

The film premieres tonight at the Film Forum with special VIP screenings followed by Q&A sessions with nelson and special guests. For a complete schedule of events visit www.milesdavismovie.com.
