In part one, they discuss Monk's beginnings as a young drummer, and his iconic father's wisdom along the way. They also talk about his successful 80s R&B and dance music period, and the pivot back to his jazz origins. 32 years later, his most recent release, Two Continents One Groove, topped the jazz charts. He also shares the incredible moment as a teen, when he realized his father was more than Dad.
