Come enjoy another Summer Saturday afternoon of beautiful jazz in the park and listen to the wonderful jazz stylings of Jazz Vocalist Kristina Koller with Mike Bond performing a number of original and contemporary jazz selections. Don't forget to bring your lounge chair, grab a meal from a local restaurant and then sit back. relax and enjoy yourself as we continue our @Jazxy Afternoons of beautiful music in the park. Afternoon JAZZ@HSA Featuring THE MARLENE RICE STRING 3-TET
The Afternoon Jazz @ HSA series will kick off on Saturday, March 19th in celebration of Women’s History Month, with the Marlene Rice String Three-Tet, led by innovative musical artist, violinist, vocalist, arranger, songwriter Marlene Rice, accompanied by the indefinable cellist Nioka Workman, and Destiny Diggs-Pinto on bass. The Series is made possible by Grammy Award nominee and composer/pianist, Adegoke Steve Colson, a recipient of the South Arts, 2021 Jazz Road Creative Residencies Grant, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Harlem School of the Arts.
Afternoon Jazz @HSA Masterclass with Adegoke Steve Colson and Iqua Colson featuring T.S. Monk
The 58-year-old Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), located in New York City’s historic community, is proud to welcome Grammy Award nominee and composer/pianist, Adegoke Steve Colson, recipient of the South Arts, 2021 Jazz Road Creative Residencies Grant, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Through funding made possible by this grant, Mr. Colson will lead Afternoon Jazz @ HSA master classes involving students across HSA’s interdisciplinary curriculum and the organization’s Jazz Program, and featuring some of the most respected and prolific jazz artists. The Afternoon Jazz @ HSA series will kick off on Saturday, February 5, in honor of Black History Month with T.S. Monk, son of revolutionary jazz pianist, Thelonious Monk. T.S., who performed in his father’s band, is a decorated drummer, bandleader in his own right, and founder of Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.

4th Annual Emerging Artists Festival :Val Jeanty and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice Ensembles
Saturday November 13, 2021 Daytime Classes 1-6-pm Evening Concert 8-10.30 pm Beginning in 2013 the Vermont Jazz Center has presented emerging artists as part of its featured programming. In 2017 the idea of featuring younger, emerging professional performers evolved into an annual November festival. For 2021 event the Jazz Center in alliance with the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice will connect with students from around the state via the Vermont Association of Jazz Educators and Outright Vermont. High school students, college students, and LGBTQ folks attend this event free of charge. Student groups welcome. DM us for more info or with questions. Various local high school and college student groups will perform. Representatives from Outright Vermont will be tabling during the afternoon activities. Saturday Evening Concert, 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm (livestreamed and in person): Val Jeanty is an Ensemble Director at the Berklee Institute of Jazz & Gender Justice. Also known as Val-Inc, she is an Haitian afrofuturist, composer, turntablist, and professor at Berklee. She is a pioneer of the electronic music subgenre Afro- Electronica (also called "Electro-Vodou") incorporating Haitian Vodou rhythms with electronic instruments.
