Bill Saxton & His Harlem All-Stars
Saxophonist Bill Saxton and His Harlem All-Stars return to the Englewood Public Library on Thursday, July 22nd at 7:30 p.m. on the library’s front lawn and plaza. This will be the 5th installment in the library’s 9th annual jazz concert series “Jazz Under the Stars.” Registration is required for these concerts (no exceptions) and is available on Eventbrite or go to tinyurl.com/JUTSsaxton Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a maximum of 100 guests, Englewood library cardholders only, unless maximum not reached; please bring your own chair or blanket, and masks/social distancing is required. Bill Saxton has composed more than 80 musical compositions. Tunes such as Beneath the Surface, One for Booker and Priorities earned a three star rating and critical acclaim in Downbeat, BeBop, and Beyond magazines. Saxton has toured with the US State Department extensively in West Africa. He went on to play across Europe and into Japan and the Caribbean. Among his many honors and accolades, Saxton was honored by the White House during Black Music Month, the Harlem Jazz Museum has featured his life, and The Library of Music at New York’s Lincoln Center housed his induction as a Jazz Legend. Bill rejuvenated a historical jazz landmark when he opened “Bill’s Place” in 2006. Saxton has since devoted a considerable portion of his creative energies to managing and playing at the club, while continuing to appear on recordings as a sideman. Powerhouse vocalist, actress and activist Ledisi returns to NJPAC! The acclaimed singer is “soul food to the ears, salve for the heart and sweetness for the spirit” (Soul Tracks). Ledisi won her first GRAMMY® this year for the song “Anything for You” off her vibrant new album, The Wild Card. Her first record on her own label, The Wild Card combines jazz, rock and blues to create Ledisi’s definition of soul music. New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation 27th Annual Golf Tournament
The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation (NJVVMF) will host its 27th annual Golf Tournament at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale, New Jersey. This phenomenal sell-out event supports the future of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and the work of the Vietnam Era Museum. Registration includes a continental breakfast, refreshments on the course, a buffet dinner and reception following play, locker room facilities, greens fees, carts, and all gratuities.

Drom NYC Summer Jazz Series Presents: Mingus Big Band
Drom NYC Summer Jazz Festival: Live Jazz Returns to the East Village, Beginning July 28th As New York's live music scene comes roaring back to life, East Village venue Drom brings live jazz back to the neighborhood with their new NYC Summer Jazz Series: Nine shows over two separate weeks in July and August, featuring some of the city's most dynamic performers, running from July 28th to August 22nd (Full lineup below). While such storied jazz venues as Tonic and The Stone are long gone from the neighborhood, and other beloved rooms like The Pyramid Club went permanently dark during the pandemic, Drom keeps the flame of live music burning, and celebrates the end of our collective lockdown by going big. The series marks a milestone for Drom: their first ever dedicated jazz festival -- a surprising first from a venue that's been home to many contemporary jazz greats over its 14 year history, including Robert Glasper, Marc Ribot, Jeff "Tain" Waits, and Arturo O Farrill & The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. Originally from the Bamiléké region of Cameroon, Central Africa, Gino Sitson’s daring musical project combines jazz, gospel, blues and traditional African polyphonies, polyrhythms and melodies in a most innovative way. Join us for an exciting and energetic combination of new sounds, where percussive grooves and enchanting vocals are intertwined with lyrical melodies. His family comes from a long line of musicians known as Ntontas ("players of horns"). Sitson is a UNICEF Cameroon Goodwill Ambassador.
