This concert will present the core rhythm section of the larger Queens Jazz Orchestra in a special program honoring NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath who passed away in January 19, 2020 at the age of 93. Jimmy Heath passed the baton to his protégé, Antonio Hart to conduct and lead the orchestra in his aftermath. The ensemble is comprised of six amazing musicians: Freddie Hendrix on trumpet, Steve Davis on trombone, Antonio Hart on saxophone, Jeb Patton on piano, David Wong on bass, and Vince Ector on drums. They will perform some music composed by Jimmy Heath as well as jazz standard arrangements.
  • Tenor Sax legend Houston Person and Jazz Pianist Lafayette Harris Jr will play a live stream show, at the illustrious Soapbox Gallery. This is a duo - sax, and piano - concert. They will play some of their favorite Jazz standards and loads of Blues! The setlist will include, Harris' original "You Can’t Lose With The Blues", "They All Laughed" as recorded by Person and the standard, "Stars Fell On Alabama". It will be a great evening of music.   • The Austrian Cultural Forum NY presents the saxophonist Gottfried Stöger's ensemble DreamHunter outside their iconic building for a live, in-person concert. DreamHunter (with Walter Fischbacher on Keyboard, Marcos Varela on Acoustic Bass, and Peter Kronreif on percussion) performs an eclectic mix of jazz, classical and folk music. Free admission, no reservations needed. Location is outdoors, in front of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York (11 E 52nd St. b/w Madison & 5th Ave).

This New Jersey Arts Annual exhibition features 45 New Jersey artists from all over the state. Black will tour you through the show looking at their work and the work of their peers. This program will be available on Zoom and will be live on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Twitch. 2021 New Jersey Arts Annual: ReVision and Respond is a project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and The Newark Museum of Art.

Topics covered include the role of being an artist while incarcerated, and what it means once prison time is over. Moderated by Jesse Krimes, artist, curator, and the co-founder of Right of Return USA, the first national fellowship dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated artists. The Arts in the Garden series is a partnership between The Newark Museum of Art & New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to bring you a vibrant outdoor series of concerts, films, and cultural celebrations. All programs will take place in the Museum’s Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden with a limited capacity and safety guidelines to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience.
