Acclaimed Tenor Saxophonist George Garzone brings his formidable quartet to the Zinc on Saturday, September 24. He's supported by guitarist Peter Bernstein, bassist Peter Slavov, and drummer Ari Hoenig.

Saxophonist George Garzone is a member of The Fringe, a jazz trio founded in 1972 that includes bassist John Lockwood and drummer Bob Gullotti, that performs regularly in the Boston area and has toured Portugal. The group has released three albums. A veteran jazzman, Garzone has appeared on over 20 recordings. He began on the tenor when he was six, played in a family band, and attended music school in Boston. In addition, Garzone has guested in many situations, touring Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and performing with Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z, and John Patitucci, among others.

Garzone is well-known as a sought-after jazz educator, teaching at the Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Longy School of Music, New York University and the New School University Jazz and Contemporary Program. He has pioneered the triadic chromatic approach and students of his have included Joshua Redman, Branford Marsalis, Teodross Avery, Luciana Souza, Mark Turner, Donny McCaslin, Doug Yates, and Danilo Pérez, to name a few.

The Darryl Yokley Band will be in concert at the Englewood Public Library, on Thursday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. on the library’s front plaza. This will be the 2nd concert in the library's 10th annual Summer Jazz Concert Series - "Jazz Under the Stars". This acclaimed series takes place every Thursday evening at 7:30 from June 23 through August 25. The concert series is free and open to the public. No registration is needed, but library parking is very limited. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church one block north at 113 Engle St.
Critically acclaimed saxophonist Darryl Yokley has been recognized as a very talented composer and arranger by The New York Times, Downbeat Magazine, and more for writing unforgettable tunes for his band Sound Reformation, which recently released their second album Pictures at an African Exhibition.

Elvis, The Legend Lives featuring Anthony Liguori with Bill Turner and the Blue Smoke Band return to the Brook Arts Center on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 8 p.m. Liguori, one of the country's top Elvis tribute artists, performs his sold-out show in concerts, casinos, and cruise ships. Downbeat magazine and SF Jazz rising star saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman collaborates with the incomparable drummer Darrell Green for a performance debuting original music written during quarantine. They were featured on NPR this past June for a series called “Alone Together Duets,” and recently completed a tour of Africa sponsored by the U.S. State Department and American Music Abroad.
Camille is joined by the Darrell Green Trio, featuring Anthony Wonsey on piano, Tom DiCarlo on bass, and Darrell Green on drums.

Acclaimed pianist Uri Caine brings his formidable trio to Zinc for a splendid evening of jazz piano on Tuesday, August 16. He’s supported by bassist Mark Helias and drummer Ben Perowsky.

Jazz pianist/composer Uri Caine brings an eclectic array of disciplines and influences to his music. His own Jewish heritage, his classical and jazz training, and his interest in electronics combine in ambitious hybrids that are often challenging but always inventive.

Caine has received commissions to compose music for the American Composers Orchestra, The Arditti Quartet, The Vienna Volksoper, Concerto Koln, The Basel Chamber Orchestra, and The Beaux Arts Trio among others. His most recent orchestral composition “Sunburst” was performed in June 2016 at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sicily. He also served as the Director of The Venice Biennale in 2003. Caine has received grants from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Pew Foundation, and The USA Artist Fellowships and has performed at numerous festivals including the North Sea, Monterey, Montreal, and Newport Jazz Festival as well as classical festivals like the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Opera, Holland Festival, IRCAM and Great Performers at Lincoln Center. He has recorded over 30 albums as a leader and was nominated for a Grammy® Award for The Othello Syndrome (Winter and Winter) in 2009.
