  • In honor of Black History Month the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center in Red Bank, the home of Count Basie, presents "An Out of Africa Experience," with The Brandon McCune Trio and The Black Wine Guy Experience (BWGE) with MJ Towler. Pianist Brandon McCune was the 1998 Ambassador of Jazz to Africa, and he has accompanied the best in Jazz, such as bassist Buster Williams, Wynton Marsalis and the incomparable Betty Carter, and more. MJ Towler of the BWGE, a popular podcast, has made a colorful splash into wine culture, and will take you on a wine tasting journey through South Africa's, black-owned vineyards that will broaden your grapevine appreciation. This is a fundraiser to support the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center, a National Historic Landmark.

    On Saturday FEB 18, th from 6:30 pm to 930PM at HARLEM HERITAGE TOURS at 104 Lenox Avenue (115 -116 Street) piano masters Bertha Hope, Denton Darien, saxophone/vocalist John Satchmo Mannan, Alvin Ellington Flythe on tenor sax Tarik Shah on bass and many others will celebrate the music and contributions of Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Horace Silver and others to the Jazz idiom
    The concert is live and free The event is supported by the New York State Jazz Literacy & Arts Society, the law firm of Lipsig, Shapey Manus and Moverman and The Jazz Foundation of America

  • Concluding our Black History Month Trilogy is a fun and funky mix of music and cinema. Soul Men is a chronological journey of the most iconic African American singers who helped to define the genre dubbed "Soul Music.” Starting from the classics to the big screen, vocalist Billy Cliff will lead the audience through the works of Isaac Hayes’s composition in Shaft, Curtis Mayfield’s soundtrack in SuperFly and Marvin Gaye’s film score in Trouble Man.

    Billy Cliff has sung with artists Freddie Jackson, Angela Bofill. He has also been chosen as the lead vocalist for Kool & The Gang, the jazz Group Spyro Gyra, The Blues Brothers Band, Dianne Reeves and many more!
