    Acclaimed jazz guitarist Yotam Silberstein brings his Brazilian group to Zinc on Tuesday, January 17, for a special tribute to legendary Brazilian composer and musician, Jacob do Bandolím. He’s supported by accordionist Vítor Gonçalves, bassist Eduardo Belo, and drummer Dennis Bulhoes.

    In only six years since landing in New York, internationally acclaimed guitarist Yotam has earned a well-deserved spot among the Jazz elite by collaborating with legendary musicians such as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, Paquito D'Rivera, Monty Alexander, Roy Hargrove, and the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars.

    Yotam's mastery of the guitar is featured on an array of hit albums, ranging from his recent releases, "Resonance" and "Brasil" on the Jazz Legacy Productions label, to Monty Alexander's Grammy-nominated "Harlem-Kingston Express Live!"

  • This series presents a world-premiere work commissioned by Voices of the New, paired with a selection of old and new works chosen by the members of the ensemble. Performed on an intimate scale mostly without a conductor, this series will offer audiences a chance to connect directly with the ensemble.

  • In partnership with Yendor Theatre Company, playwright Pia Wilson leads this writing workshop for community members who aspire to tell their own stories or want to learn how to move their stories from the page to the stage. Wilson is a stage, screen, podcast and short story writer. Yendor Theatre Company commissioned a new play by Wilson which will be staged throughout Newark, including Clinton Hill, in August.

    The Roosevelt Library and the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District will host the annual Hudson Valley History Reading Festival on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

    In four sessions, beginning at 10:00 a.m., authors of books on Hudson Valley history -- including Susan Stessin-Cohn and Robert & Johanna Titus -- will present author talks followed by book signings in the Wallace Center.
