Pedrito Martinez Residency at Drom
DROM is proud to launch its first weekly artist residency with famed percussionist and vocalist Pedrito Martinez and his group. The Grammy-nominated Cuban musician will bring his signature, high-energy Afro-Cuban sound to the East Village venue every Thursday, starting February 3rd, 2022, effectively kicking off the venue’s 15th Anniversary season. Martinez has performed at DROM regularly since the venue re-opened in May after a 15-month hiatus due to the COVID pandemic. His latest album, Acertijos (released March 2021), was nominated for Best Contemporary Tropical Album in this year’s Latin Grammys. In July 2020, Pedrito invited singer Camilla Cabello — with whom he has been recording at the time — to DROM. Together they performed her current global hit “Don’t Go Yet”, a single that features Pedrito and Manuel Marquez, a member of his group (watch here). For his weekly residency Pedrito will perform alongside Sebastian Natal on bass and vocals, Issac Delgado Jr on keyboard and vocals, Jose “Xito” Lovell on trombone and vocals and Manuel Marquez percussion and vocals. More special special guests and dancers will make appearances throughout the series.
Eliane Amherd Trio
Eliane Amherd - vocals and guitar/ Amanda Ruzza - bass / Rosa Avila - drums. LA DÉGUSTATION - A MUSICAL WINE TASTING Swiss-born and New York-based guitarist, singer and songwriter/composer Eliane Amherd has made a career out of touring the world, literally and stylistically: Jazz, Funk grooves, Latin and Brazilian rhythms inform Eliane’s stylish, sophisticated global retro - pop sound. In La Dégustation, her inspirations remain international, but as a songwriter, she turns her lens to her home soil: the complex and diverse “terroirs” of the canton Valais in Switzerland, where wine is business, culture, science, and (nearly) religion. Each of La Dégustation’s tracks is named for a wine produced in her home region. Intoxicating and socially unifying, wine provides the focus for Eliane’s witty explorations of culture, gender, love, politics, history and art. As much a linguistic polyglot as musical, Eliane sings La Dégustation in French, English, and Walliser Titsch, her native dialect. Brazilian bassist Amanda Ruzza (Amy Lee, Leni Stern) and the grammy award winning drummer Rosa Avila (Andy Williams) from Mexico complete Eliane’s power Trio, whose chemistry and astonishing musical range are on display throughout the album and in every live concert setting.

Tessa Souter Trio at North Square Lounge, NYC
At once unassumingly virtuosic and uncontrivedly emotional, New York Times critics pick and two-time Sunday Times magazine Top Ten Jazz CD of the Year choice (2013 and 2018), vocalist Tessa Souter is “a beguiling artist who infuses everything she interprets with voluptuous intelligence and keen emotional insight.” (KQED ARTS). Her last two albums were both London Sunday Times Jazz Records of the Year. And Picture in Black and White was also the Number One Jazz Vocal CD of the Year for Ken Dryden (New York Jazz Record), W. Royal Stokes (NPR Downbeat Critics Poll) and WVCR FM’s Jay Hunter. She has performed all over the world, from New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center to the Blue Note (New York, Shanghai and Beijing), and recorded and or played with many of the jazz world's greats, including Steve Kuhn, Kenny Werner, Gene Bertoncini, Lew Soloff and more. Wowing audiences with her striking authenticity, charismatic stage presence and crackling humor, “Souter, with gorgeous, often breath-taking vocalizing and deeply moving song writing, ranks in the uppermost echelon of contemporary artists.” PopCultureClassics. www.tessasouter.com
