  • Jazz Power Initiative is now expanding their monthly jam series to be presented at two Uptown Manhattan locations, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and their newest partner venue, Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center in Washington Heights. Concerts are presented monthly on the third Sunday at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and on the third Thursday at the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center, with high-quality jazz music for neighbors and visitors to enjoy and participate in a family-friendly environment.

    The artistic line-up and schedule for the Intergenerational Jazz Power Jam fall season is:

    OCTOBER 20th 7-8:30 PM at Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center
    OCTOBER 23rd 2-4 PM at National Jazz Museum in Harlem

    Acclaimed jazz pianist Edsel Gómez brings his formidable trio to Zinc on Tuesday, August 30. He’s supported by Rubén Rodríguez on bass and Robby Ameen on drums.

    Grammy nominee Edsel Gómez is today one of the premier Latin pianists in the world. His highly personal approach to fusing jazz, Latin, and Brazilian music gives him a unique personality and musical voice. His record Cubist Music pioneered an original improvisational concept based on Cubist Art. He arranged and directed Dee Dee Bridgewater’s Grammy-winning Eleanora Fagan: To Billie with Love. He has worked with many more luminaries, including Don Byron, Celia Cruz, Gary Burton, Olga Guillot, Jack DeJohnette, and Caetano Veloso!

    Acclaimed jazz guitarist Jack Wilkins brings his formidable trio to Zinc jazz club on Monday, August 15. He’s supported by Jeff Barone on guitar, Sean Smith on bass, and Steve Fidyk on drums.

    Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been on the International jazz scene since the early 1970s. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich, among many others. A native of Brooklyn, Jack began playing guitar at age thirteen. His mentors included Johnny Smith, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Bill Evans, Clifford Brown, and Freddie Hubbard.
