We are pushing through COVID-19 with the Willie Martinez Quartet and Special Guest Ed Jackson Live Stream concert from the Jackson Room venue in Queens, NY on Saturday, February 26th.   • Acclaimed Japanese-born pianist Yoko Miwa brings her “splendid, irrepressible energy” (Jazzwise) and “remarkably upbeat and affirmative” music (DownBeat) to Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York City. The performance features The Yoko Miwa Trio with pianist Miwa, bassist Will Slater, and drummer Scott Goulding.

  • New York Festival of Song, led by Artistic Director Steven Blier, continues its 2021-22 Mainstage Series with “Love Songs in 176 Keys: 4 hands, 4 voices, 4 countries” at Merkin Hall, co-presented by Kaufman Music Center. The concert features Caramoor’s 2022 Vocal Rising Stars, including mezzo-soprano Natalie Lewis, tenor César Andrés Parreño, soprano Meredith Wohlgemuth, baritone Seonho Yu, and pianist Francesco Barfoed, performing love songs from Germany, Spain, France, and the United States by Brahms, Fauré, Milhaud, Gershwin, and others. Each country’s “chapter” begins with a virtuoso duo-piano overture. Pianist Bénédicte Jourdois joins Steven Blier as co-director and pianist for the performance.

The musical genius of Jimi Hendrix is recreated on stage by Jimy Bleu, the longest-running - and considered the most authentic - Jimi Hendrix tribute artist since 1968, joined by Moby Medina on bass guitar, Ted Edwards on drums.
  • Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award winner Darlene Love brings her hits to UCPAC! Come hear classics like “He’s a Rebel," “The Boy I’m Gonna Marry," “Wait ‘Til My Bobby Comes Home," and “He’s Sure the Boy for Me." The much-loved documentary Twenty Feet From Stardom, which prominently featured Love, among other famous and not-so-famous backup singers, was not only awarded with an Oscar for Best Documentary, but it was also soon followed by a Grammy Award for Best Music Film. Her famous fans include Bette Midler, Little Steven, Bruce Springsteen, and former Late Night host David Letterman, who invited her to appear every December for 29 years prior to his retirement to sing “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” Rolling Stone Magazine calls Love "one of the greatest singers of all time."
  • Did you know that Charlie Chaplin, one of the greatest silent movie actors and most iconic figures of the early film industry, was also a talented composer? To celebrate Chaplin’s 133rd birthday (he was born on April 16, 1889), Aspect Chamber Music Series present Philippe Quint’s critically-acclaimed multimedia program. Inspired by the violinist’s successful 2019 album Chaplin’s Smile (Warner Classics), the program returns to New York City for its premiere in an all-new format. Quint’s unique arrangements of songs from Chaplin’s most celebrated films (Modern Times, City Lights, Monsieur Verdoux, The Kid, Limelight, and A King in New York) are interspersed with rare footage of the actor, along with still images and video clips from his films. The program also features music by composers who influenced Chaplin’s musical style – Brahms, Debussy, Stravinsky, and Gershwin. Don’t miss this interactive performance, featuring Philippe Quint’s captivating narration as well as surprise guests!
  • “Don’t Let Go” is a Chamber Music America New Jazz Works commission for “Balancing Act,” a jazz octet with voice. Structured as a song-cycle, this concert-length project explores the nuances and complexities of the concept of “hope” in the context of current social, political, and environmental realities.
