  • Drummer Chris Beck will be in concert at the Englewood Public Library on Thursday, August 18, at 7:30 p.m. on the library’s front plaza. This will be the 9th installment in the library’s 10th annual jazz concert series “Jazz Under the Stars.” The concert series is free and open to the public. No registration is needed, but library parking is very limited. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church one block north at 113 Engle St.
Continuing in the music legacies of his father and grandfather, Chris Beck is making a name for himself on the New York scene as a hard-swinging, powerhouse drummer and composer. Beck’s refreshing and soulful vision as an artist is on full display, as is his unique ability to pay homage to the classic straight-ahead style of jazz while infusing elements of his African roots and Gospel upbringing.
For further information, visit the Library’s website at www.englewoodlibrary.org. The Englewood Library is located at 31 Engle St., Englewood, N.J. The final concert in the series will be with Sharp Radway on August 25.

  • PATRICIA PHILOMENA RAE (mother) Girl, woman, wife, mother; Innocent, curious, in-love, tireless, fearless, faithful, patient, giving, tired, unloved, yelled at, misunderstood. Best friend, a confidant, trusted - most dialed number. Always there, always interested, proud, worried. A martyr, afraid, sick, frail, alone, gone..... Tracey Yarad exposes her vulnerable, cavernous interior landscape through music after the passing of her mother in 2013. Melody, silence, and harmonic resonance becomes a place of retreat to heal and find meaning in the life of Patricia Philomena Rae. Never performed before Tracey brings together a powerful group of women to interpret, intertwine and collaborate. Claudia Acuña, improvisational voice, Elsa Nilsson, flute, Jennifer Vincent, bass, and Rosa Avila, drums.
